BCK Solar is a solar thermos for camping use. During the use, a conical reflective shield concentrates the solar rays into the central axis, were a black food container is placed. Inside the container, the food is heated achieving 90°C within 45 minutes. When the product is not used, the shield is foiled around the container, maintaining the internal temperature, and conforming a small and easy transportable volume.

The thermos was awarded with the Innovar Prize in 2006 (www.innovar.gov.ar). It was selected as “Top Nominated” in the Index Award 07 (www.indexaward.dk) in Copenhagen and won the Red Dot design award 2007 (www.red-dot.de) in the “Design concept” category, two of the most important design contests of the world.

Solar energy, one of the most clean an ecological resources was considered until now as experimental and unnusual in consumer goods. To spread its use, the product was thought in order to respect the codes and way of using of other camping and outdoor products, so that the user can understand naturally its functionality. The volume of the thermos is very small: 250 mm height and 130 mm diameter. In that way it can be easily transported in the backpack or the mountain bike.
